Building Communities Through Effectual Service

Why Ambassadors for Christ Outreach Ministry exists

AFCOM exists to fulfill the great commission of Jesus Christ which is to spread the gospel of hope to the world, to demonstrate the love of Christ as He did by feeding the hungry, to serve by working with the sick and disadvantaged youth and to give positive messages and strategies for transformation.

For the last two years, we’ve collaborated with three other organizations that send items overseas to destitute countries. We gathered and assembled enough supplies to send over 150 boxes with supplies remaining.

Youth

Between 1.7 and 2.8 million runaway and homeless youth live on the street each year.

  • 63% of the runaways suffer from depression.
  • 50% have problems at school.
  • 20% have drug/alcohol abuse problems.
  • 17% have been in the juvenile justice system.
  • 26% of youth in shelters and 32% of those on the street had attempted suicide.

AFCOM provided life skills workshops, and mentorships monthly for a total of approximately, 864 Class C felons, homeless or runaway youth over the course of twelve years.

Hunger

  • 41% of households {receiving food from Westchester Food Bank} include at least one employed adult.
  • Estimated 200,000 Westchester County residents are at risk of hunger. Half… seek emergency food regularly… half seek sporadically.
  • 1 out of every 5 U.S. child does not know where their next meal is coming from.

AFCOM feeds and provided free resources to approximately 500 people annually

For the last eleven years, we have served at minimum 775 people, fed everyone and disseminated 250 resource bags, and backpacks filled with canned goods, toiletries, children’s books/toys to youth and families from the community, providing them with health screenings, a lite meal, and supplies/resources through our outreach event.

Sickness

  • An estimated 40 million people are living with HIV/AIDS.

For the three years, AFCOM served in an AIDS home, we visited and spent time with 10-12 residents monthly for a total of 360-432 visits. Prior to our participation, these residents had very few, if any visitors monthly.
